I grew up in a family where I was constantly told “girls should not play sport”. It has been very challenging for me from a very young age but other people’s opinions never stopped me doing what I wanted to do. Instead of letting it have a negative impact on me, playing sports gave me the drive and motivation to set myself challenging but realistic goals not only in my performance but goals regarding my current life affairs. As I grew older I started questioning how humans are able to carry out certain skills and movements within sport. This helped me gain an interest in trying to understand how the human body works.…

Boy Scouts was in a sense a skeleton key for me. There were endless doors of opportunity that could be opened. I had access to many leadership and volunteer opportunities that I otherwise would not of had. I worked countless hours collecting food and working at the nearby food pantry in Brandon. I worked on projects led by fellow scouts in my troop and picked up trash in the local park in Rosendale more times than I can count. I’ve learned many skills in scouting besides the stereotypical knots and campfires that usually come to mind. I learned leadership skills, public speaking skills. Heck, I learned how to organize people to achieve a common goal when I had to lead my service project in the community. Scouts strengthened my religion, reinforced…

It is imporant to understand that agriculture is such a broad area of education, and this is why in 1988 Future Farmers of America changed their name to FFA because FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as, but not limited to, teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners, as described on ffa.org When you here arigulture your mind thinks, animals and plants, but it is not limited to just that, there is also classes that educated the youth on how to fix macheriery, on how to make maple suryp, on bussiness management, and even on foestry. By making it a requirement for our high school students to take classes in agricultural fields, whether it be livestock, horticulture (the science of growing crops) or macherey, we provide our youth to be more qualified for careers rather than jobs. Having more agriculturally educated citizens we are can reduce the cost of living by not having to import or groceries and clothing and it will also help teacher teens to be more self sufficient in their later…

The key to a student’s success is the quality of their classroom teacher. I believe that in spite of any external obstacles (chaotic/troublesome home life, administrative incompetence, access to services, etc.) a quality teacher can positively impact a student’s life more profoundly than almost any other influence. I believe that Teach for America (TFA) cultivates, develops, and supports the type of teachers who can have this kind of impact. I seek to join TFA for this very reason; I want to positively impact students by providing a high quality experience in the classroom.…

As a straight A student all my life I have to work extra hard each and every day to be able to accomplish even my simplest goals because I know I should always push myself to become better at beating the game, that is life. But while all this is true, I know that no matter how hard I work I cannot possibly achieve all my goals and dream no matter what actions I take, at least not alone. John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.” This powerful words are extremely meaningful, especially to me. This means that if you try your hardest regularly to not only gain new knowledge, become more productive, make new goals and wonder about your future, and become a better you, no matter what circumstances you are under you are a person who will help others even unintentionally. Personally, I know it can sometimes be hard to get through the day while being alert and ready to work, but when I see someone who is dedicated to not only exceeding themselves but to make others succeed too, it makes me want to do the same. I always go out of my way to help others because that is what a real leader would do. Joining the Beta Club where each member is a leader will allow me to…

“I’m criticized, but all your bullets ricochet “, this is a line from the song Titanium by David Guetta. Based on our teachers, the point of view of almost half of the people, including them, is that we don’t deserve to be here, to be in this Special Science Class. They said that there are more intelligent students in the star sections who deserve more to be called as the cream of the crop. They keep on believing that it is only luck that brought us here, but in fact, we are here because we deserve to be. SSC is no joke, because the entrance examinations are already a real deal – sweat and blood. So it hurts like there’s a knife stabbing us in front, hearing those words coming out from them, from our teachers who should be the one to encourage us but now they’re the one who’s lowering our self-esteem.…
