Analyzing Credibility

Part 1
    The examples in the ads for Progressive were paid by Progressive. The example for the news video was paid by the sponsors for CNN and from the news station. In the ads for Progressive I noticed the only slant was they wanted you to go online to purchase insurance. Otherwise, the ads were mostly about what Progressive has to offer. For the interview with Larry King, he usually has someone on to promote something the guest has going on; such as a movie, book or event taking place. Since this interview marked the 5th anniversary of 9/11, he had Giuliani on about that event. Then later in the interview he brought up the presidential race to see if he was announcing his candidacy. In the first example it reflects that society as a whole likes to save money, but still have fun. Most of the ads made it look like it was fun to shop for insurance. The news clip reflected society to want a good follow up story and interested in major past event. I believe they are credible because they compare rates and give them to the customer. I also believe Larry King to be credible because he does his research and asks the source, usually the interviewee, hard questions.

Part 2
    I am not skeptical over the source’s credibility. Larry King has a lot of experience in interviewing and researching the questions many want to ask. He has been on the air for quite a few years and does not hesitate to ask the difficult questions. I do detect bias from Larry King. He tends to have guests on that are there promoting something such as a book or movie.   He asked Giuliani about running for presidency and trying to get him to commit on his show that he was going to run.

Part 3
    The ad makes the claim that by switching to Progressive you can save an average of $350. The ad makes a desire in you to want to save money. Especially in these hard times, it plays on the desire to put more money back in your pocket. The ad does not target a fear, but it...
