View Full Essay The purpose of this paper is for those to be able to have a better understanding of the Eight Theories of Intelligence. These theories were insinuated by Dr. Howard Gardner. This paper will provide a detailed explanation as to the type of impact these theories could have on a person’s life.   In today’s society a person’s social status is determined by measuring a person’s level of intelligence. There are many standardized test that will help one to determine how “smart” they are and how well they can operate within the society, as well as their capability of being successful.
According to Gardner’s theory, people have multiple intelligences because they have multiple neural modules (Kowalski & Westen, 2009). Every module has its own genres of representation, its own systems and techniques, and its own memory systems (Kowalski & Westen,2009). Gardner also suggested that a person’s intelligence ability in one area may not affect it in another. Each individual has an exclusive set of abilities; much like a set of fingerprints. Computer whiz, Creativity, and love of nature are all qualities that I possess. These are my strengths. These multiple intelligences range from creativity to naturalists.
Children learn at different paces, for example a child may excel at English, but may not do all that well in Math. What works for one may not work for another and this could easily transition into adulthood. Most people tend to lean towards wanting to learn more about areas that they excel in versus those they don’t. For example, the reason why I love computers is because I am always on one. I have a computer of some sort ever since I was in Kindergarten. I have a variety of interests in different types of computer programs such as making videos and photo editing. In my opinion this is where my creativity comes into play. I enjoy making scrapbooks, planning events, making favors, etc. I have always had a passion for anything that I believe would get my mind to working....
