ABOUT PROJECT 2
• This project is worth 30% of your final mark
• The project is divided into 6 sections: Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, User Documentation, Evaluation. Each section has a deadline.
• There are up to 4 marks available for ‘Written communication’ so make sure you spell check your work and proof read it to check it makes sense.
• Make sure you backup every piece of your work. Do not rely on memory sticks as your only backup.
• There are three Grade ‘A’ sample projects available in your classroom to refer to for ideas.
• You will receive feedback on each section of the project. Make sure you act on any feedback and advice you are given.
ANALYSIS
Analysis 1: Identify a Problem
You will be able to complete this section after your visit to the company
1. Describe how the organisation operates at present.
2. Make a table like this to show
(a) problems being experienced by the organisation
(b) the User’s requirements

3. To earn high marks for this section you must make sure that the problem you identify requires the use of TWO pieces of software so that data is transferred between the packages. (Mailmerge is a good way to show this).

Analysis 2: Use Methods of Collecting Information
1. Describe the different methods that could be used to collect information for your project. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Which methods will you use and why?
2. Produce a letter for the company asking if you can arrange an interview.
3. Write up a list of questions that you could use at the interview.
4. Include the notes from your interview (include rough notes made at the interview plus any information you have word processed).
5. Include any other information you have found e.g. information from the internet, leaflets collected, and say whether you think this is useful information or not.
