Transitions On My Own Journey
Going to High School has been something I’ve looked forward to since grade school. Now that I am finally here, and less than a four away from entering adulthood I am realizing I will practically be entering another world. I didn’t think anything could be more nerve racking than my transition from elementary to middle school. Now I realize that was only a baby step. High School is the first milestone of the road of life, the step of the ladder of success, or at least before I enter the real world. Then, there will be much more challenges I will have to face in my transition from high school to college.
To be perfectly frank with you, I wasn’t so nervous in my first day at first; quite the opposite, I was getting the usual bored feeling whenever school began. I began to imagine that I’m going to see many familiar faces, and even most of my friends would be there. Did it sure proved me wrong. As school began, I found out that I would have to go to class with different people every period, the rushed speed of which assignments are given was unprecedented, and most people in my class are those who I’ve never met before. It’s like bam, someone just smacked me with a piece of wood, it really puts a damper on my day and a roadblock on my grade, big time.
I not only had to adjust to high school, but I had to adjust to the Canadian way, knowing I came from China where school and life was very different. I would eventually get used to this rushing new life style. Even though at times life was pretty difficult and complicating at VPCI, I will never forget the academic and life lessons I have learned those past few years. High school was very demanding in time, eating out a big chuck of free time in my life. I learned that once I put my mind to it, I could accomplish anything. School taught me that it wasn’t a good idea to waste away your time and life. I learned how to be responsible, be on time, and ask for help when I need it.
