Religious Philosophy
I do not believe that a person’s religious views should at all affect the way they treat others. I think this because everybody should have the right to have their own beliefs, regardless what the other thinks. Just because one person thinks their religious views are correct does not mean the other person’s beliefs are not correct. Who is really at liberty to say what religion is right and what is wrong? I honestly do believe that “humble generosity” does exist in today’s world from time to time. I do not think that it is as common as maybe it should be but somewhere there is generosity. I find that most people today do things to be “generous” to look better than the next. I do not think that in today’s world “humble generosity” is a valued trait. I would rewrite the biblical story by using the charities and citizens. I would replace the poor widow with the charities and I would replace the scribe with citizens. I would illustrate how citizens give charities to organizations, as a “good deed” but on the other hand get the charity rebated in their taxes. To me this shows that these citizens are donating to the charities to look “good” in the community but in all reality doing it for selfish reasons. Where the charity will give individuals things they need out of the kindness of their heart. Charities are there for that reason, to help people in need.
