Art is art only in the eye of the beholder. Art is a skill that is acquired by experience study or observations. It is something that many people try to accomplish but not all are successful at. To redeem yourself is to buy back or win back something that you have lost. To redeem yourself in art is to express lost emotions or feelings through your work. For many artists art is there way of \"venting\".
An example of this would be abstract expressionist art. At first glance most of the time these pieces look as though they did not put very much time and effort into their work. But as you research the artist you will learn more about their motivation for what they did. For example Jackson Pollock, to most it looks like he just threw paint on the canvas in no particular order. But if you look closer at pieces such as \"Autumn Rhythm\" you will notice that there is sort of a weird symmetry to it. Indian artist who would place their canvas on the floor and poor sand on it to create their desired images inspired him.
Another example of redemption through art is the artist Jim Dine. He did a piece called \"Shovel\" in 1962. This piece could represent a number of things; it could represent just a shovel. It could also be a \"praise\" to the shovel because of what an effect it had on the farming age. All of the farming that was done could not have been accomplished without the simple shovel.
