Population ageing has been a global issue since the early 1980’s. The increase in the number of old people is presumably also increasing the number of people with disabilities both physical and social. Physical Disability of any kind prevents normal function in instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) including household chores, shopping, climbing stairs, public transport, finances, and walking and are affected by cognitive impairment and activities of daily living (ADLs) include personal-care activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, and using the toilet. Today elderly are vulnerable to the social and environmental predictors of disability such as the effects of breaking up of joint family; the impacts of postmodern trends of individualistic attitude along with deteriorating performance based functional capacity and chronic somatic conditions.
