Opinion essay about the pollution of environment
Human beings have always tried to destroy the world, but up until now the earth has been able to bear it all. Judging by the current situation we may conclude that there is no rescue, help and hope for us in the future if we continue to act in the same way.
Admittedly environmental pollution does not concentrate on pollution of rivers and not – separating garbage etc. anymore, but on the currently very explosive topic CO2 – consumption and climate change.
But why is this discussion arising all of the sudden in such short time? Institutions like the UN have exhorted and admonished it for years, drawing our attention to the climate, but in vain, because the politicians are way too interested in their own cosiness.
Human beings and especially their leaders are lazy, postponing action on this urgent problem. Now everyone has to show his true colours. Each of us must ask ourselves, “What have I done in the last few years and primarily at present, for a better, cleaner and healthier environment?”
I am absolutely convinced that everybody can do something to save our environment: use more public transport, install better insulation in houses, use less energy by, f.i., turning off the TV, heating water through solar cells, separating garbage, buying water – and energy economized equipment, using economizing light bulbs, etc. We are not able to put all possibilities into practice that well, but everybody can do a lot.
It strikes me that suddenly everyone panics and thinks the world is going to collapse in the next century. We are confronted with an end of the world scenario. As if the statistics were not clear: if we do not protect on our environment, if we do not do something immediately we – and primarily our children – will be lost. Then the only chance for us is to settle on another planet, which is comfortable and easy, but does not improve the situation and is just another act of postponing.
