Marriage Essay
Every individual has their own beliefs and opinions regarding the meaning of love and marriage. At this stage in my life, I don’t have a full understanding of what love and marriage mean, but I do have aspirations to one day find a partner with whom I can explore the world of love and marriage with.
The meaning of marriage is abstract and continuously changes throughout time. Furthermore, its definition varies between individuals. Regardless, the meaning of marriage can be looked at from a legal perspective. Legally, marriage is a contract between two people that joins together their lives and can only end through divorce. For most people, marriage has a meaning beyond the legal sense. Although my thoughts pertaining to love and marriage lack experience, I believe the meaning of love and marriage is when a husband and wife take vows to love one another, to cherish one another, and to stay together through sickness and health, for better and for worse. It is a covenant between two lovers to remain loyal, faithful, and loving towards one another for the rest of their lives.
My hopes for the future are to one day find my soul mate, get married, and begin a family. I hope to graduate from college, have a stable job, and a reliable income before getting married because I do not want finances to become a conflict in my marriage. Also, I would like to be at least in my mid-twenties before there is a ring on my finger. I think it is important to have some life experience, personal growth, and self-knowledge before committing myself to someone else. In addition, I believe it is important to have the same values and morals in life as my partner because it will be essential in building a marriage and raising a family. Unfortunately, I do not have the expertise on any of these topics, but hopefully with a little time, education, and maturity, my time will come to meet this person, spend the rest of my life with him, and start a family.
