Love Battle
When two people are in love it seems that nothing else in the world matters and they will do anything to be together. In George Orwell's novel 1984 Winston and Julia's love gets tested. Their love is tested by many struggles and events but is tested most of all by Big Brother. Winston and Julia must face these struggles of love in order to be happy but find it very hard because of the society in which they lives.
Winston and Julia live in the future year 1984, which is controlled by Big Brother, and are under constant watch by Big Brother's telescreens. In the society they are not to have the relationship that they want to so they revolt by having it anyway. Julia revolts on a more physical level, which is shown when Winston and her first get together and she talks about all the men she has had and how experienced she is. Winston revolt is more intellectual level, which he shows by showing interest in learning how Big Brother works. Also by reading Goldstien's book where Julia falls asleep to his reading. The party feels Winston is more a danger to Big Brother than Julia is is because of her lack of knowledge and everything is physical to her.
Winston and Julia are determined to be together and have a secret room they go to where they think there are no telescreens. They commit their love for each other and vow even if they confess everything they will not betray their love for each other. Another test is shown when they go to an Inner Party member's house name O'Brien. At O'Brien they vow to be true to Big Brother. They also talk freely because they think that his telescreen is turned off since he is an Inner Party member. Lastly Winston and Julia love gets truly tested when they get caught.
Winston and Julia finally get caught in the secret room, which has hidden bugs. They are taken to the Ministry of Love and are separated and are tortured to confess. Julia being the weaker one confesses first and betrays his love for Winston. Winston on the hand...
