Life Changes
As I sit and look back at the flash backs of my life I see how I have changed I so many numerous ways. I have not only grown physically, but mentally and spiritually as well. Sometimes I feel like I have become a completely new person. When I first arrived at High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland I had no complete idea of what to expect. I entered through those bright blue doors a lost 12 year old freshman, who had no sense of direction nor knew what I was getting myself into. Everyone knows the story of the-“fresh meat” that enters the doors and gets beat –up by the upperclassmen, and to tell the truth, that’s exactly what I thought was going to happen. I was terrified, afraid, and startled by how similar I was too many of the diverse students appearing before me I the school and how warm a welcome I received from everyone that walked past. I was a freshman with completely set goals. I knew what I wanted I life and what life could offer me only if I choose the best options. I was a student interested in poetry and arts, but as I completed my years of high school I realized that times change and so do people. I went from being a sincerely quite student to an out-spoken, opinionated leader who knew just what and when to say and told the honest truth when needed. But as I reach the peak of my senior year, the focuses in my life have changed dramatically. There was one main common occurrence I witnessed by every single student in the class of “2008” student body, we all grow up rapidly, whether it’s the rapid maturing process or, as my mother would say, “It’s something in the milk”, but the growth was seen. I don’t exactly know what have made this growth so rapid, but I do know that I have benefitted from it in ways that are indescribable. I no longer think of the classrooms as rooms where the teacher teaches and the student learns, but as a sanctuary where the teacher and the student becomes one.
