A Knight's Tale
”Change the stars William, live a better life than I have.” (A Knight’s Tale, 2001) To be able to change history, and to be honored for a goal or dream that had never been achieved by a person, like you. It has been accomplished, people changing the stars, they see their dream and then they go after with all they have, because they believe in themselves to reach for the highest star, the one that may seem to be unreachable. All we need to do is dream big, follow our hearts with perseverance, and we too will change our stars, no matter who you are, “We're the sons of peasants. Glory, and riches, and stars are beyond our grasps. But a full stomach, that dream can come true.” (A Knight’s Tale, 2001) William Thatcher, now Sir William Thatcher, knew ever since he was a boy that he would become a knight, and then one day his dream had become his reality.
Although for William this was not an easy task. He had to leave his father when he was a young boy, but his father knew it was for his boy’s own good will. William went through many struggles dealing with love, hate, and poverty. His true identity was not revealed until his main opponent, Count Adhemar, had been following him around to study his weaknesses, because William was unbeatable in the sport of jousting. It was difficult for William to hide the fact that his real name was not Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein. The one who he was deeply in love with first knew him as a knight and had always thought he was raised as one. Through all of these struggles William strived and achieved his dream, and proved to all that even the unreachable stars can be reached.
William had some of the most important qualities of a knight, even though he was not raised as one. The qualities of a good knight are many of the qualities that you would probably find in a very good person.
