Greek Philosophy
Greek philosophy was based on reason and inquiry. This meant it was about questioning, researching, and coping with the answers you found. Greek philosophers had influenced Muslim philosophers, scientists, science itself, to the European Renaissance and even enlightenment. There were three great philosophers that influence Greek philosophy the most. Those three men were named Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. All of them had lived in Athens and knew each other. Socrates came first and Plato was his student. When Socrates was executed for speaking on things people felt strongly about one of them being religion. Plato made his own school called Intellectual Center of the world. Aristotle became Plato’s student. When Plato died Aristotle founded his own school well. Based on Plato’s theories, one of them being: knowledge gained by our senses is always confused and unclear. Aristotle mad his own theories. When Aristotle died there were three philosophies called Stoics, Skeptics, and Epicureans. These philosophies stared with Aristotle and Plato but had traveled through the Roman Empire until people converted to Christianity. Christianity was influenced By the Epicureans philosophy. This philosophy is still used in the Christian religion today.
Stoic philosophy was based on inner happiness. Stoicism was founded by a man named Zeno who lived from 315-265 B.C. He thought the best way to inner happiness and peace was to moderate in everything, in other words to not over due anything. You should only take other as much as you needed. For example to not eat so much but until you are full. To be charitable but don’t like give away your whole life savings because you’ll be the next person homeless in the street. You shouldn’t get greedy or be too nice and just be happy with what you already have in you’re life. This philosophy led into the Epicurean philosophy.
