Deforestation
Deforestation
What is deforestation? Deforestation is the act of cutting down a whole rainforest, or number of forests. These kinds of forests are important for humans to continue to survive. Now why can’t we just cut them off? Why are they so important? Rainforests are one major source of medicine and food supplies. More than 25 percent of what people use of medicine is extracted from plants and animals, like from the poisons of venoms and snakes. In addition, rainforests play a major role in normalizing both the wind and heat structures of Earth, hence maintaining one of the critical problems our planet is facing; Global Worming.
More benefits today less benefit tomorrow. The Earth’s population is wiping-out every single hectare of rainforests available. They do that for three major reasons, growing crops, using the lumber for paper and wood production, and use the land for livestock pastures. Yes we do profit from the resources rainforests provide us today, but did we ever think if this action is beneficial on the long term?
The long term negative effect caused by deforestation comparatively outlasts its short term positives. It reduces the lumber supply in the world; it also makes the land useless for cropping after a year or two because the natural nutrients come to an end. Moreover deforestation results in a lot of animal and plant species’ extinction. Rainforests are like a shield or a container that saves heat and prevent it from rising to the atmosphere, because if heat rises up, this may result in increasing the overall temperature of Earth, which results in Global Warming. Another thing that in order to demolish the rainforests, burning down the trees is a solution, but that of course releases a lot of carbon dioxide, which affects the ozone layer and results in melting down the ice-caps.
I think that deforestation has to be prevented, or at least controlled to save some for the future, to give time for scientist to discover more species and...
