Creationism Vs. Evolution
Creationism is a philosophical perspective that intends to keep specific social systems and conventions alive. However, Creationist beliefs display a clear disregard for acknowledged scientific premises. Their ultimate argument is a contest of faith versus fact, and because of their refusal to incorporate credible evidence into their theories they can’t destabilize the normal science of evolution. Even though the prevalence of Christian, Judaic, and Muslim religions might lend some credit to Creationist claims (given that all holy texts confirm the existence of a divine creator), the modern world is driven by evidence, details, and specifics. There is an enormous amount of data supporting evolution. Furthermore, the body of evidence that supports evolution is literally growing at an exponential rate too. Therefore, as the definition of a theory implies, evolution is a theory. On the other hand, there is no evidence to support religion, or at least there is no evidence that can be scientifically investigated. Therefore, religion is NOT a theory. Specifically, religion is not a scientific theory.
There are about 4 billion years of fossils that prove genetic changes of almost every single species that exist now and even species that are now extinct. (Alvin Silverstein, 1998) Just look at the Galapagos Islands for hundreds of examples of different species diverging into even more species in order to adapt to different environments. Scientists and researchers may not have a complete fossil record for every species, but there is no other scientific theory that supports the evidence of fossils. This direct evidence of fossils is by itself sufficient proof that evolution did occur in the past.
According to the theory of evolution, organisms have developed various adaptions in order to adjust to a changing environment. For the most part earth’s changes in history have happened at a gradual rate but in the 1800’s the environment started to change at a much faster rate- and...
