College Acceptance Letter
UC Personal Statement
I grew up in a town of disillusionment and material desire; a town in Orange County called Corona del Mar. This is the home of my family and friends yet here, many people get sucked into a cycle of greed and dissatisfaction, but nobody really seems to notice. People always look for a better job to pay for bigger and better houses and cars and when they actually get those houses and cars all they want is more. In my opinion most of these people aren’t truly happy; they just keep trying to meet these superficial desires without end. I’ve seen this and, excuse the hypocrisy, have always wanted more. I’m thankful that other meaningful influences in my life have helped me to realize the kind of person I aspire to be.

I lived in both New York City and Orange County attending schools on both coasts and an international school in New York. I learned how to be flexible and relate to people from different backgrounds and cultures and discovered that I have a natural ability to empathize with others. The clothes that people wear, the cars, and the houses don’t really make a difference; we are all human. What really matters is making a contribution to better the lives of the people around us.

I’ve gained great leadership skills, responsibility, and the drive to keep going even when the going gets tough. I came away with 200 total hours of community service and extraordinary feelings of self-worth and respect.
