Cold Mountain Summary
The setting for Cold Mountain is in the state of North Carolina during the Civil War. The plot of Cold Mountain is to reunite Inman and Ada. Inman leaves the Confederate army a few years into the war, and tries to go back to Cold Mountain where he can find his love, Ada.
Inman is a Confederate soldier that receives a neck wound from a battle and is forced to go to the hospital. After he goes to the hospital he stays there for a few weeks. While in the hospital Inman begand to think of Ada the girl he left behind at Cold Mountain. On his way to Cold Mountain Inman faces many challenges. He has to hide from the home guard so they can\'t capture him and take him back. He has to hide from federal raiders so he won\'t get killed on his way back. He has to find food and shelter everyday. Inman Also meets many different people on his return to Cold Mountain. Some of these people help Inman on his journey, while others try to end his life.
The book also tells the story of Ada, a woman of knowledge and class. Although she is a very sephitcated woman can\'t cook or for farm animals. When the book first introduces Ada you will find that her father, Monroe died awhile back, and she must care for herself. Before her father died, the father or someone else handled all the hard work that was required outside, and Ada stayed home to read or play the piano. When her father died Ada was very sad and helpless. She could barely support herself and probably would\'ve died from starvation or something like that if Ruby hadn\'t come. Ruby is the life saver of Ada. Ruby teaches Ada all the skills needed to manage a farm and herself. If you compare Ada at the beginning of the novel to the ending of the novel you will find that she changes greatly.
After months of traveling through the BlueRidge Mountain, Inman finaly reaches Cold Mountain. Your led to believe all the way through the book that when the two finally reunite that bells, whistles, and fireworks will...
