Imagine for a moment that if you were told to either give up coffee or internet. The mere thought of losing either of both would freak us out. Coffee shops are often prevered as a third place, between home and work. Coffee shops mean different to different people. It can be a place to try different flavors of coffee, a place to hangout with friends, a place to read books, a pace to work or unwind after hours of work. Coffee shops have great potential. For coffee shops, it is not only important to sell brewages but the complete experience (the location, interior design, music played, and the baristas) is what sells out. And it would also be my criteria for evaluating a coffee shop. Starting this year I have been addicted to Dr.java. This coffee shop is located in a small market, a couple blocks away from my apartment.
This coffee shop is similar to a European style side walk café where you can sit reading a book, hook to your laptop or just hang around with your coffee. The inside space is really appealing. When I enter the shop there is a cute lady at the counter, she’s always happy to welcome me in. I like the rustic ambience and delightfully artistic interiors inside the shop. The place features a few art displays, paintings of local artists, and then there are local flyers, postcards, broachers of art galleries and music operas, posters and visiting cards lined up in the selves which gives a feeling that this place care about community than it’s brand name. A sort of art outreach program promoting local artists. This is a kind of place where I go to kill my time, the physical and the artistically abstract ambience inspires me to stay for an extended period which could be for a few minutes between lectures or hours working on my assignments.
