Child Restraints

Problem Solution Outline   The use of child restraints   (1) Have you ever been driving around town and seen little children bouncing around in the car? A lot of parents today do not use the proper child restraints. The law requires drivers to use the proper child restraints while in the vehicle. Even though a driver may use a restraint on a child it may not be the proper one for the child’s age.   (2) I am going to persuade you to believe that using the proper child restraint may save a child’s life.   TS: Most parents think that they are using the right child restraint but in reality they are not.       According to research done by the Centers for Diseases and   Control Prevention, children ages 0-14 who were killed in an   auto mobile accident, half of the children were not restrained.     A. Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death and disability among children. Children who are not properly buckled up may be seriously hurt; not only in crashes but in sudden stops as well, according to the Louisiana State Police website.   C. One out of four of all occupant deaths among children ages 0 to 14 years involve a drinking driver. More than two-thirds of these fatally injured children were riding with a drinking driver (Shults 2004).   TS: Now that you know that there is a problem with parents not using the proper child restraint       There are many simple solutions to the problem of not using   the proper child restraints.     A. The action that I propose you take is to be a role model to children and buckle up.
