Dear Ms. Brenda Parrish
I would like to announce that the bus company we have hired to take us on our trip to Mexico is going through a terrible bankruptcy, so unfortunately they will not be able to take us on our trip and won't be able to refund us back the deposits we have paid. I understand this comes as a disappointment to all of the class. The faculty has thought long and hard on the issue to see what it is that we could do to make this trip happen since all of you deserve it. One idea that we have thought of is to throw a fund raiser to make up for the money that was lost. I would like to inform you that we have to raise about $2000 to make up for the deposit. Some of the students made up some really good suggestions on what the fund raiser should be. The ideas that came up in discussion are the following: Bake Sale, Car Wash, Singing Contest, or a Dance Contest. We have included a poll form with this letter so that we can take a vote on which of these four ideas would be the best to raise money. Please hand your form into the principal’s office at the beginning of the school day and the vice principal and I will calculate the votes, and the faculty and class will meet in the auditorium after lunch hour to announce the winning suggestion. We will also be taking more ideas from the class so please be there and be on time if your want your suggestions heard. I would like to inform you that if we are not able to raise the money please do not get discouraged we will find another solution so that we are able to take this trip. We would like to get all of your family’s involved to make this a more fun event. The winner of the contest wins a spot on the bus and a chance to come along with the class to Mexico. We are going to make the most out of his inconvenience so that we can continue on to our trip.
