INFORMATIVE SPEECH OUTLINE
Specific Purpose Statement: To inform my audience about Charter Schools and how they differ from traditional Public Schools.
Main Points:
I. Charter Schools are an alternative Public School.
II. Charter Schools are different from traditional Public Schools.
III. Charter Schools face different challenges.
INTRODUCTION
We’ve all heard of MAC’s and PC’s, two completely different computers that serve the same purpose. PC’s are more of a traditional computer, while MAC’s are a trendier alternative. The biggest difference between the two is how they process things. Ultimately, the choice to use a MAC or a PC is up to the consumer.
Now imagine if you had the same opportunity for public schools, if you could choose between attending a traditional public school or an alternative, a charter school. New York City has two different types of public schools, the traditional public school and charter school. This topic is of personal interest because not only am I a product of the New York City public school system, but I am also a parent. Tonight, I am going to inform you about what a charter school is, how it is different from a traditional public school, and the challenges charter schools face.
Charter schools, as we know, add choice to the public school system, but what are they?
