Beginning of the Year Writing Sample
In Henry Ford’s quote he states that you can’t acquire a good reputation if you’re all talk and no action. This is a hundred percent accurate. If you just sit around talking about how you’re going to make the world a better place for example, and never do anything positive to benefit the world, like recycle… etc. you’re not going to have the resspect or help from others. Your reputation or people’s perception of you will be very poor. There are numerous examples of all talk and no action by people. Including, but not limited to, my brother and George W. Bush. One must take action and accomplish their goals to build a strong reputation.
My personal experience through my brother and others strengthens my opinion towards Henry Ford’s quote. My brother cannot hold a job; however he is constantly talking about how he can keep a job, but then gets fired after a few months. With the previous information given, all the jobs that he has had and not kept, he has lost the respect of that company. When my brother goes to apply for another job, they’ll look at his resume and they’ll see all the faults, and that will affect his interview and their reflection towards him. My brother frequently complains about how he should get back into skateboarding and how great he is it, but he never applies himself to do so. If my brother were to actually get back into skateboarding, he would be happy and doing something that he loves, and have more self confidence. Others may look up to my brother as a role model, because of his good skateboarding skills, even though I think anyone who wants a good future should never look up to my brother. My brother talks about doing chores around the house on a regular basis, but he never seems to get to them. If my brother were to mow the backyard he would earn money from my dad.
