Assignment On Sociology And Decision Making
1) I do not think that people can change their decision making overnight. Someone who makes bad decisions is not going to suddenly start making the right ones. I also think that everybody is different, which makes it hard to tell what can help them to make better decision. I think first of all things should be put into perspective. The right and wrong decisions can be compared and shown why the wrong decision is indeed wrong. I also think to help people make better decisions we have to let them make their own mistakes. You can warn somebody all you want about a bad decision is…but if they still make that decision and they feel the consequences and why it was wrong they are more likely to make the right decision the next time. Basically, just guidance, help, constructed advice and being rational can help an individual to make start making better decisions.
2) I personally do not believe we can actually change the way people make decisions. We might be able to sway them for the moment or try to turn them to certain decisions, but overall a person is going to do what they decide to until they learn that those decision are wrong and are not getting them anywhere and then they will change how they make their own decisions.
3) I think we might want to change the way people make decisions because it can potentially help. This will help people because they will make better decisions for themselves and therefore will be insuring that their own life will be more fruitful. These decisions will make them feel like they are not only doing the right thing but that their decisions are actually good and therefore are affecting their life in a positive and productive way.
4) I think the only reason people may not want to change the way people make decisions is for selfish reasons.
