The Age of Absolutism       ''   1880     Introduction   Absolutism was a belief that king is the only one who has a power to decide about state issues and has the greatest power. This belief spread in whole Europe but mostly influenced France, Spain, Austria, Prussia and Russia. This was a protection of king to hold power only in his hands and protect the raising influence of Parliament and nobility. Absolutism started around 1550 and ended around 1800.   Timeline   Here you can see most important events during European Absolutism, starting with Philip II of Spain and ending with partition of Poland between Austria, Russia and Prussia.   Summary   Absolutism was the age of changes. There were years of wealth and prosperity replaced by the age of poverty and economic disaster. Many wars took place in this age. One for gaining power other for religious reasons. Reformations came through these wars. All of them where established by most important rulers of all times.   Two problems   Here are two main problems of Absolutism in Europe. First were religious wars between Catholics and Protestants. Then there were wars for power and land, which were most common in Russia while the other countries fought for religious freedom and power. Reformations were another sign of this age. New theories took place in whole Europe: math, science and art developed as well as the education of war strategy. Law and orders were set by most powerful rulers and Newton belongs to those who brought new inventions to this old continent.   Wars and reformations in Europe   Our countries were not the only one who had to face wars and conflicts.
