Subject: Analysis of Toshiba HDTV ad Introduction As a high technology manufacturer you compete in a well rounded market, one that is changing every day and raises the bar to produce the next best thing. Your slogan “Committed to people, Committed to the future” (Toshiba)alone shows you understand your role in the market you participate in. Not only do you know your responsibilities in the technology field you also have goals or a set of procedures to make sure things get done. Toshiba focuses on community affairs, the environment, compassion, and education. With your dedication and values you can be rest assured, I would enjoy analyzing an ad for another high tech corporation. However one flaw I see is that most if not all of your ads target men and sports watchers which are mostly men. One way you can improve on this is by including female viewers. Ad Analysis Even though the need for dominance sensations is portrayed effectively, it seems like only football fans will get satisfaction from watching an HDTV. This ad along with many other ads for high definition televisions usually have something to do with watching football. Just think about the number of times you see HDTV commercials while watching television that are centered on some other televisionshow or sport. Chances are you didn’t think of too many. I’m not saying this is bad, because there is a plethora of people who watch football, especially super bowl time. I am just saying broadening and diversifying the intended target would probably increase sales. In this ad a running back is blasting through a defender which displays dominance. The need for dominancein this ad is seen clear as day. This ad also relates to the portrayal that men have to be dominant and aggressive. A football ad is one if not the best way to connect the need for dominance and this particular portrayal of men.
