“It’s a child, not a choice!” Many women are against abortions and many women are for them. There are different reasons and beliefs why women choose to have abortions and why others choose not to have abortions. There are interest groups who are for and against abortion. The National Right to Life Committee is an interest group that is against abortions. The committee was founded in 1973, in response to a United Supreme Court case decision, Roe v. Wade. The decision legalized the practice of abortion in all 50 states, throughout the whole nine months of pregnancy. In June1973, a group met in Detroit to have their first meeting. They wanted their board consisting of an elected representative from each of the 50 states. Some of the members included experts in the fields of science, medicine, medical ethics, constitutional law and religion. The committee’s ultimate goal is to restore legal protection to innocent human life. Even now, the National Right to Life Committee has over 3,000 mini groups in all 50 states and the District of Columbia (). I agree with the National Right to Life Committee because I, myself, feel that abortions are wrong and should be stopped. Abortions should not be an option to “get rid” of an unwanted baby because they feel that that’s the only option left. To me, that is killing the baby, even if the fetus is not fully developed as yet because the fetus will be a fully developed baby at some point. Abortions come with extra “baggage” when it is all over, such as uncontrollable emotions, which usually do not go away.
In addition, nearly all states have pro-life organizations and local pro-life groups that have been formed as well.
