Abstract
In this paper I will be giving examples of the similarities and differences associated with four religions. These include: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. The texts they consult, the Gods that they worship, the places they worship, and their basic beliefs will all be compared. Their views on humanity, the human problem, and the end goals of transformation will all be discussed.
A Comparison of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism
It is no wonder that with so many religions in the world that they would share many commonalities as well as differences. When comparing the religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam against the Hinduism religion, one can find many similarities and differences. The comparisons range from the texts they follow, the God or God’s in which they worship and believe in, how and where they worship, and their basic beliefs.
Most religions have their own sacred texts. These are the words of the God that they worship and the words that they choose to follow and believe in. Judaism follows a book called the Torah. Christians abide by the Bible and Islam’s sacred text is called the Qu’ran. Hinduism follows yet another type of text. They call their text Vedas. The Vedas consist of four separate books. These include the Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, and the Atharva Veda (Hopfe & Woodward, 2007, p. 76). No matter which religion one follows there will be a text to guide them.
One of the biggest differences between these religions are the God’s they worship. In the religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, they only worship and believe in one true God.
