>1984 was a book written by George Orwell in 1949 to warn many countries about the true dangers of totalatarian countries. After WW2 many countries were oblivious to what was really happening in the communist countries. In The book Orwell sets up the perfect totalitarian government that controls every aspect of the peoples lives not allowing them to have any personal anything and that takes everything to the extreme. He explains how the government is able to do this through psychological and technical means.

>After the war and before the Cold War many Americans supported communism and thought of it as a good experiment. Having personally experienced the cruel lengths the communist had gone to in order to increase there power, orwell was disturbed by the support being given. He wanted to show the real truth about these governments to the world. The title was supposed to be a suggestion that 35 years after writing his book thigs would be the way explained in the book if nothing was done about the issues in the governments. He wanted to express his fear of the growth of technology enabaling these governments to monitor and control their citizens.
