A Descriptive Essay About a Place
One breezy evening I decided to go out for a walk. I loved how the warm breeze felt against my face. While walking, not even noticing where I was going, I turned a sharp corner and nothing was there but a dirt path and forest surrounding it. I walked on, day-dreaming about how this place looked like a fairytale. When there was a sudden change, there was a small gap leading into the forest where there was a river. The river curled in all directions and the calm, smooth surface looked trusting, and inviting. I stepped into the forest. The sun was almost down; the sky had beautiful light purple color with pink clouds. As I stepped into the forest it grew incredibly dark except for some patches of light here and there. As I followed the little river I hear little noises, guessing it was from animals I moved along. As the day grew darker I got tired. I decided to sleep for the night in the forest for following the small river back would take a long time. So I rested on the soft green grass and went to sleep dreaming about how mystical this all seems.
The next morning when I awoke the sun was high in the sky and the sky was a true blue color. I got up and stretched. It was surprisingly a good sleep. As I decided to go back home so I can eat I realized the river was gone! It wasn't there anymore. It just vanished in a way. What was the river were now flowers, flowers of every shade. But the problem was the flowers were everywhere not only where the river was. My brain overflowed with panic. How was I supposed to get back?
I decided to follow my instincts. I skipped my way through the trees and saw ahead a patch of dirt road. I was overcome with relief. I hurriedly rushed to the road and ran all the way back home. I was glad that I got

In the middle of the night I heard a noise I woke from my slumber to see all sorts of weird creatures, where am I,how did I get here, how do I get home. I started to wonder around trying to find my way home when I realized I was in a fairytale I read a few days before. I keep on moving forward until I ran into a talking frog bubbles. Bubbles said to listen close because he would only say this ones he said to find the weeping willow tree with a star in it and find the stone that fit in the star to get home. So I started to look for the tree with the heart in it and the stone that fit in the star. Then I ran into a dragon that said to find the path with purple stones on it to find the star stone…

The sun shone vibrantly through the trees and I loved the way it complemented the gold leaves. I started to notice the incline to the top of the hill, it was steady unlike the Adirondacks where you go up and down. When I got to the top I saw a spectacular view of the surrounding neighborhoods and way in the distance I saw the buildings of Rochester. As I stood there I admired the pure beauty that lies so close to home. It is hard to believe that a wilderness like this one could be surrounded by suburban neighborhoods. Being higher up and in an open space I could really appreciate the mixture of golds, oranges and yellows it was different than being on regular ground level. I thought to myself ‘’I should do this more often, it’s peaceful and healthy.’’ I felt a certain peace with in me while I’m in the woods, suddenly my phone vibration broke my train of thought. It was my stepmom texting me to see if everything was okay, I replied yes and I’d be back at the trailhead in a short time. The leaves snapped and cracked under my feet on the way back and the crisp fall air made the not yet fallen leaves dance in the trees, it was getting later in the day. I was three quarters through the loop so I was still fine,I wasn’t…

As I entered the hidden destination, there it lay, a massive 70 foot tall waterfall. The water was rushing down the smooth side of this massive stone. Trees were hanging over the sides of the waterfall as if they were staring at their death. I was frightened to do what I was about to do, but instead of pondering the situation, I threw on my swimming trunks and made my way over to the base of the deleterious waterfall. I grabbed a rope that was on the side of the waterfall, covert in some bushes.…

I walked softly up a brightly lighten path up the mountain, the weather was harsh; however I walked on a protected path leading high up in the Denali. What appeared ahead stood radiant colors raining from the sky blues, purples, yellows and green poured deep into the earth. As I stare in awe the moon grew brighter and beamed white light down onto a shadow that appeared in the shadow of the northern lights. As I began to walk towards this mysterious shadow my eyes focused in closer. As I stood there taking in the full image of this miraculous view, I was awaken by the sound of rain trickling on the window. I sneak quietly out of bed and make it into the kitchen to begin baking some fresh blueberry muffins. Before I could taste the muffins, “splash!”…

Before long however, the stars peeped out and soon, the place was oncemore trance-like (if that’s even a word). The tiny pinpricks of silvery light surrounded the glorious moon that was reflected on the surface of the water. The moon seemed to sink as the tide rose up to meet its original copy. Now bewitched, I stared at the dancing fireflies which added their light to the brilliance around them. I inhaled the scent of the air and felt so calm that I wanted to stay here forever. Nature was such a calming phenomenon that I wondered why humans never appreciated…

    Immigrant: A Short Story

The main road was quiet and empty, as expected. We proceeded west of the village and found ourselves in Lineboro, nearly 10 kilometers away. This was all a part of my father's complicated plan, by proceeding as far out as possible, it would look less suspicious, especially with the dark night sky and the low sound of our vehicle. Continuing to drive through the silence of the night, edging closer to the empty countryside with every mile we traveled, we finally took a sharp turn onto an unpaved path that traveled directly through the empty forest. After some time, we came to a short stop, what was before my eyes was ever so reassuring. It was the widespread, open area of a dark and shining river.…

I quickly ran the fastest as I could, finding a hiding spot, like a bunny would do as if it was being chased by something. I ran back into the woods, making eye contact with the raccoons as I ran. I made a slight turn to the nearest tree, and hoped the rabid raccoons wouldn't find me. I saw them keep on running in the direction that they were chasing me before. I couldn't see anything still, but all I saw was the bright, burning hot sun, rising. I knew it was going to take a while for the sun to rise completely, maybe 4 or 6 hours, I wasn't sure. But what I did know is that I had to find my way out of here for sure. It was still dark, but the clouds were cloudy as if everything was still dark. I started running back to the bridge. I heard tiny…

It was full of life and flowers and bright. I thought that it would be gloomier. I was okay with it. It made me more happy and it made me feel lifted up. I also realized something. All of a sudden I could hear again. I had no idea why. I thought something was going on here, but I didn't know what. As the other people got off the flight, I followed them. I assumed they were going to look at Stonehenge too. It was a long and strenuous hike. Walking over tons of hills and in between trees. A little bit later all of a sudden there was a wide open grassland. It was something I had never seen before. The rolling hills were covered with green grass that went on for miles. It was beautiful. I was in shock. The small hills were filled with herds of sheep and a few cows scattered here and there. Long in the distance between two hills I saw stones. Although they looked small from far away, I knew they weren't. Everyone gathered their stuff and headed over. Every step of the way I became more excited.…

    My Experience of Darkness

When I woke up in the darkest abyss I’ve ever been through, I feared that I was stuck in a dream that I couldn’t wake up to. I thought about all that I had gone through with those people, why couldn’t I just hang on a little bit longer. So I cried. I cried for my life and my past, the present. I wondered why God didn’t lead me rightfully down the acceptable path, then I realized it was a moment for me to decide my own fate, my own course. In this darkness, I had no idea what was left, or right, behind me or ahead of me. It seemed the moment I got up, I saw something above my head, it was yellow and hardly out of reach. I stretched for it and tried to reach it and failed. Again. I walked forward and felt a solid wall and tried to climb it with no success. Then, I heard a voice not my own fill the abyss of darkness, I cried out, “Who’s there? Do you have light in this darkness?” The mystery person said in reply, “I am below the light, just like you, but I am here to help you with your problems.” Not knowing what he meant, I followed the voice up what felt like a flight of stairs. I saw the yellow beam, it’s the light! I continued towards him and he started to just sound familiar. I cried out, “Peter!” My uncle who died from Leukemia in 1999, how could it be him, he died 10 years ago. He called to me, “yes, Liz, its me follow my voice.” I followed it out of the abyss into a long bright meadow with nothing but wildflowers and vines, but when I got out completely, there was no one there. Just the end of a rainbow at the other side of the meadow. Its beauty shocked me so I walked towards it in a gaze, when an eagle came down representing my pride and swiped my jacket off my back then flew away. I continued to walk in fear and a rabbit jumped into my path representing my disloyalty and wouldn’t move in. I ran and it stilled covered my path. Peter said, “apologize and be truthful and you won’t have to worry for its just a rabbit.” I did as I was told but had no idea who to…
