Why Should Kids Get Paid For Good Grades
Say you're being forced to go to a building for 8+ hours, and you don't get paid for it either. Welcome to a student's life! If kids get paid for good grades that would be at least something! Plus don't people say school is our “job”? What if giving kids money would be a good thing. Wouldn't you think they would learn the economic system in the process? Also, don't you think parents would save money in the long run? And when you want to make them do chores for something in a rush, it will be stressful. Some may say “giving kids money for good grades is like giving a dog a treat after every good thing they do!” Aka they would want money for every good thing they do not just grades. Giving students' money for good grades is a good idea. Have you ever heard or said, “school is your job” if it really is my “job” why don't we get paid for it? Seriously! When adults have jobs they get paid at least $7.25 an hour! If kids get paid for good grades that would be at least something! I mean kids have to be stuck, in a building with other people, forced to listen and learn to something that would not be relevant. True some things could be interesting life science and social studies, but they're irrelevant. The real class we only need are Math, Lang. Arts, and Science if you want to be a scientist, a …show more content…

Even if people think it’s not fair to just be giving them money like that, then the school could give them jobs when their free and that way they can say they earned the money that they have. It can be any simple job like it can be anything as simple as cleaning around there on athletic field or something. Or even have them do community service when they have time, if they don’t have time the coach could maybe give them a little time to do community service so they can. But i’m not a college athlete myself so I wonder what actual college athletes think about getting paid in college.…

This is not a cool thing to do. This is like if you did all the work for someone on a test, but instead of you getting the A, the other person gets the A. See, your probably thinking that is it not fair because it isn’t. An example is of the college football national championship bowl game. The players are the ones that get the winning record and stuff, but by just making it to the bowl game, the school makes on average 7.4 million dollars. That’s not even if you win either. Even the coaches get an average of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars along with their paycheck by just making it to a college sport championship. I mean it wouldn’t hurt to pay the players something like two thousand dollars. On a football team there are about sixty players so that's one hundred twenty thousand dollars. Compared to seven million that's nothing. Sure people might say things like:If you pay college player, they might spend their money on dumb things like liquor and maybe drugs. If you are thinking something like, I assure you that will not happen. I remember my Dad saying that there are no idiots in college. If you do something like that, and they test you for drugs and the test is positive, then you could get suspended or maybe kicked off of the team. This is why you could at least give players a small portion of the school's earnings.…

There are about 480,000 student-athletes in the United States and none of them are getting paid to play sports in college even though they are practicing for over forty hours per week. Some people say that the student-athletes have already gotten paid with scholarship money, however, they don’t get to choose where that money goes. Scholarship money that they receive goes toward tuition and room and board. College athletes often need money to pay for food, but unfortunately they can’t use that scholarship money. College student-athletes should be compensated because it will increase the graduation rate, they have no time left to get a job, and they deserve a fair share of the profit.…

High school students today deal with overloaded schedules, hours of homework, and heightened academic and extracurricular expectations. These demands leave students overstressed and with no time to themselves to relax or reflect. A typical day can find a student waking up at 6:30 to rush to school for a club meeting, followed by a typical school day, sports practice until 6:30, SAT prep class until 8:30, then home to eat dinner, shower, do homework, and finally fall into bed exhausted. High school students feel too much pressure to be overachievers and be involved in every extracurricular so that it will “look good” on their transcript. Trying to balance participation in extracurricular activities while preparing for SAT’s and college admissions decreases the time that students need to develop their own specific interests and mature. Thus, American high school students are less and less ready…

Money is everything in today’s society. We buy our food with money. We buy our clothes with money. We buy everything with money and people are constantly demanding for more, but what about those without a job? What about students in college who have to focus on their education and can’t get a job to make money? What about the student athletes that play sports for the school; bringing in millions of dollars of revenue every year? They get paid nothing while their coaches and presidents are depositing checks of millions of dollars into their own bank. Don’t you think that college athletes should be compensated for all the work that they do?…

There are a lot of benefits if school districts all decide to pay the students in one way or another. It will encourage them to be successful and give them goals that the students could easily reach. If they test students each year then they can save up all the money that they earn for college or even use the money to invest in some sort of education. College isn 't for everybody though, not all schoolchildren have the intellectual capacity to reach "basic achievement" levels…

In childhood, children get a candy for a job well done. In school, students get a treat for a job well done. In society, adults get paid with money for a job well done. However, it seems that students are getting paid for getting good grades lately. In states ranging from Texas to Massachusetts, a growing number of students are being rewarded with cash for good grades or test scores on Advanced Placement and SAT exams. Though money is a good incentive for kids to try harder in school, it has more negative effects than positive.…

When there is no money left in the process of this program, the motivation will not last. In “Paying Students to Get Good Grades” Christopher Peterson states that if there is no motivation, paying them is pointless (1). By this the author is stating that if students do not get the motivation they need for good grades, paying them will not help them. This is true because bribing people, especially minors, will only help them financially, not education wise. The author also states that “Children are given awards for what they spontaneously do; after some period of time,…
