Why Is Summer Warmer Than Winter In Ohio?
Summer is warmer than winter in Ohio for a few reasons. Summer is warmer than winter in Ohio because the Sun's rays hit the Earth at a more direct angle during summer than during winter as the northern hemisphere is tilted in such a manner that this happens. Earth's axis shifts throughout the year and whichever hemisphere is tilted more in the direct angle of the sun experiences summer while the other hemisphere experiences winter. Another reason is that because the days are much longer than the nights during the summer. This helps with the average temperature being higher in the summer than it is in the winter. These are the main two reasons that the average temperature in summer is much warmer than the temperature is in winter in Ohio.

San Francisco, California has cooler summers but warmer winter as opposed to Saint Louis, Missouri. There are many things that affect this situation such as California being closer to water, Air Temperature/water temperature is cooler, and the water temperature is 27°. First, California is closer to the water. This results in cooler summers and warmer winters because there is a smaller temperature change in water rather than soil when it is exposed to heat. Saint Louis isn’t near any large body of water, which results in the Air/soil temperature being warmer. It also has a greater temperature change when exposed to heat so this means there are hotter summers but colder winters.…

In the nature of the winter season there is much to hear, see, and feel, in many different places of the world. However, in Louisiana, winters are quite different compared to a winter in New York. These winters do not cover the houses and streets with snow, but they still exceptionally cold. Mornings are frosty and the sun barely shines. In the evenings the weather becomes colder but, the sun get brighter by every minute. This contradicting climate causes Louisiana's state animals, black bears, rabbits and skunks, to go into hibernations. While, others like rabbits, armadillos, possums and deer roam about freely ignoring the freezing conditions.…

It is warmer in the summer than in the winter in Ohio. When it is summer in Ohio the sun is at its furthest north point and when the sun is at its most southern point it is winter in Ohio. In summer the Earth is inclined toward the sun and sunlight shines almost straight down. The noon summer sun is higher in the sky and the winter sun is lower as it casts longer winter shadows. The summer sun rises in the northwest and sets in the same direction. Thus, the sun spends more than 12 hours in the sky during the summer which is why it is warmer in the summer in Ohio. The sun is almost completely direct on the northern latitudes during the summer in Ohio causing warmer temperatures. Many people believe that the temperature changes between summer…

In the poems Summer Day, by Sarah A.Kettler, and Parched Earth, by Sally Hinton, both poets are able to convey their purpose through their use of diction. While the purpose of Kettler’s poem seems to be to essentially describe a summers day and illuminate in it’s laziness, Hinton’s purpose is to evaluate the state of Earth’s ecosystem. Like how each person writes a certain way, both Kettler and Hinton use their own distinct diction in their poems to achieve and convey their purpose.…

The summer solstice marks a shift in the year: everyday gradually becomes shorter, and closer to winter. In some religions, the summer solstice represents enlightenment, and new beginnings. The image of nature as pure is repeated throughout “Summer Solstice, New York City” by Sharon Olds. “Summer Solstice, New York City” relates the story of a man trying to commit suicide, but choosing life and finding comfort in the police sent to rescue him. Initially, the title seems irrelevant to the rest of the poem; however it reveals contrasts throughout the poem between nature and technology or corruption that display the reason for the man wanting to take but ultimately saving his life.…
