Why Have You Ever Extinguished Car Fire?
Have you ever extinguished car fire before? As a child, I always loved to help people in whatever way I could. It all began when my grandmother purchased me a doctor set; I would go around the house using the stethoscope to listen to people’s hearts. When I was little I remember trying to help my cousin Matt feel better by cooking him soup, tucking him in bed ,and just being there for him for anything he needed. At this time I was only six years old, but I knew I wanted to make a difference.

My Mother and Grandmother knew I acquired a heart of gold. When I grew older, less opportunity originated for myself to help people, however i craved it so much, therefore it made me fed up and agitated. My grades started descending during middle school

Finally my chance came again, by joining the junior firefighters. I applied and they took me with open arms. I finally moved out of my mothers with a valid restraining order and moved into my father’s apartment. However, after I turned 17 I was eligible to join the fire company, so I did. I was finally able to help people even more by going on calls. At this point in my life, it was the best decision I ever made for myself. Joining the Company and moving into my Father’s home. My first call was a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of a nursing home. One truck was speeding through to get to the exit as the other sedan was pulling out of a spot. There were a total of 3 patients. I was able to stabilize one car with chalks. Then I put a cervical collar on one of the patients. He was very grateful we were there and helped. After 5 months we had even more calls. I was able to help people more and more, whether being from obtaining a cat out of a tree for a little old lady or going onto a burning mansion and pulling out a 10 year old boy I did what I could and it made me feel prodigious. Every day that went on I became more determined to serve, as I did my grades also …show more content…
I completed the fire academy and I was half way finished with EMT school. Everything was playing out perfectly. Till this day I still remember that first call I had. When I’m feeling down, upset, or straying away from my main purpose I go back to my first fire call and let those emotions sink in again. My purpose here is to help as many people as I can until I’m no longer here. The feeling after helping people and knowing you’re making a difference in their life is the best feeling in this world. As of now I’m a nationally registered EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), and have my fire 1 and 2 done, currently working 2 jobs full time jobs while attending online college classes. Also I am still able to volunteer with my firehouse and make time for my family. In the long term I hope one day to become a doctor and be able to help and make a bigger difference in their life’s and their families

Throughout the past year I have endured several life changing occurances. One of my family members troubled through the treturous stages of cancer and unfortunately has passed at this time. If I have taken anything away from this, it is that family is the most important resource in a persons life. Without those people who tell you that you can, regardless of the circumstances, becoming succesful could be very challenging. After clearing my head, I was able to start thinking of a career choice that would make me enjoy going to work. I encountered an opening at a local CVS/Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and applied. After being hired, I immediately fell in love with the surroundings, the people, the patient interaction, and the knowledge…

My personal nursing mission statement is changing and developing as my career advances, however, one core piece will remain constant. I will strive to provide the best, safest, most ethical and compassionate nursing care that I can for all patients and family members with whom I come in contact. I began my post-high school academic career as an accounting major. I enjoyed the challenge of manipulating a report until I had balanced. I thought I had found my calling. As my first semester was nearing an end, I found myself contemplating the thought of sitting behind a desk all day. I wondered if I would find fulfillment in this work as a career? The more I pondered this thought, the more I realized that this was not the right career path for me. I saw images of the medical assistant program in the catalog at the school where I was attending. I could not shake the thought of the medical field for a profession. I attained my medical assistant degree and worked in the field for 10 years. The longer I worked, the more I realized that there was more that I wanted to do, but my current degree restricted me from going further. I researched nursing school programs and selected one with a night/weekend program that would allow me to continue working full-time during my studies. I have a family that I needed to continue to provide for and this seemed to be the best fit. My nursing school decision was fortified when I was selected for an award by the nursing faculty from all four semesters for excellence in the clinical setting. After graduation, I began my nursing career working as a case manager for orthopedic worker’s compensation patients. During this time I gained critical knowledge of the importance of clear documentation, the ever-changing requirements of insurance companies and an extra measure of compassion for…

There is a fire that ignites within me when I talk about my aspirations in life. A fire that burns so brightly that it can not only be seen physically in the way my hazel eyes light up, but felt radiating from my soul through the conversations that others have with me. Even when I was younger this fire always burned within me to better the world and aid those suffering in it. For some of my friends this same fire manifested into them becoming doctors, for me however it manifested into becoming a marine mammal veterinarian.…

There was always a desire in me to opt for a profession in which I could contribute to the society and help the people in need. What better way to do this than to be a paramedic who tirelessly works to aid people in distress. On joining this profession, one must learn to apply theoretical knowledge that to clinical and field situations. One must also learn many procedures and constantly update those skills. No day is a routine day. Every day, the shifts are different, the locations changed and clinical scenarios unique. The work pertains to attending calls such as trauma, cardiac and respiratory emergencies, substance overdose and many other situations and every call teaches some lesson. Apart from providing clinical help, paramedics have to act as efficient organisers and counsellors. Paramedics are often relied upon to control and direct emergency situations, this responsibility and challenging tasks is what draws me to become a practicing paramedic.…

I have experience in the fire and EMS world. I was an explorer at the Fairfield Township Fire Department in Fairfield Township, Ohio. I was an explorer for four years. In that four years I did ride-a-longs, scenarios, and class room training. We also did competitions with other departments. As a child, I went through a variety of spontaneous dreams and ambitions when it came to who I wanted to be when I grew up. My impulsive, yet frequent change of mind was based on my sole passion to help people, though I never had a true calling until I became a lifeguard. When I was younger, my Poppy died from a drowning accident. He had Parkinson's Disease and had an at home nurse with him at all times. But this never stopped him from doing what he loved to do. One day he wanted to go for a swim in the family pool in the backyard and the nurse decided she had better things to do than do her job. While she was gone, my Poppy slipped losing his balance and began drowning. When the nurse returned back several minutes later there wasn’t much she could do other than start CPR and wait for the paramedics to arrive. In becoming a lifeguard, I knew that I would never want this to happen to anyone else because the pain of losing someone over an accident that could have easily been prevented is unexplainable.…

Every fall since my freshman year, a group of students, including myself, rake leaves from people's yards in Three Forks; usually these are for the ones who can't do it themselves and is a greatly appreciated by our entire community. I've also volunteer to give blood every fall and spring since last year. I've been turned away once because I have very small veins, which makes it difficult for them to poke. The times I've been able to give, finding a vein is usually a step that entails a few tries and the process normally takes an hour or so for me. Although giving can be difficult at times for me, I love knowing that somewhere I'm saving a life. This spring, I plan on helping a man who recently had a brain tumor removed. He had a rough surgery along with a difficult recovery, and it is unsure when he will be able to go back to work. I will help him by going grocery shopping for him, cleaning his house, taking him to any appointments he has scheduled during my visit, and simply just by keeping him company. This man is close to my heart, so I believe helping him will have an immense impact on me as to who I can help and what I can do for people, whether it be big or…

When I was a young child, I witnessed my sister receiving stitches on her head. We were jumping on my bed when she fell and hit her head on the headboard. I was inspired by the medical professionals who treated her. Although this was a traumatic experience, it helped shape my aspiration to help others. Serving and improving the lives of others is a fundamental duty that I believe should be a part of everyone’s personal mission. Working in healthcare is the path that I discovered as an ideal way to accomplish this goal of service. In particular, I intend to eventually become an anesthesiologist where I will assist patients during medical procedures.…

Ever since I was young, I was always interested in the idea of helping people other than myself. I never knew the actual meaning of truly helping another person until October, 2010, my freshman year. My resolve for helping others sparked into a flame when I visited a church in San Jose where I experienced something that would completely change my life. At this church, there was an organization called Milal that helps take care of people with disabilities. It was in that place that I was able to learn the true meaning of helping others.…

Everything in my life began to change, from my friends to my attitude. My future was looking bright. The only thing left was to pick a profession, something that would ignite my spark. That was when my parents were involved in a terrible accident. In March 2009, my parents were pedestrians struck by a car. My mother was diagnosed with a fractured tibial plateau, and was wheelchair bound for five months. During this difficult time I accompanied her to numerous appointments and met many different medical personnel. Surprisingly, I became inspired. It was an awful time for my family, but it was an experience that changed my life. Everything about the healthcare system fascinated me. I asked many questions about medications, imaging techniques that were used on my mother, and job descriptions of practically everyone I had encountered. I remember telling a nurse about how I found the hospital to be the most interesting place that I have ever visited and she replied, “Well if you feel that way, you should become a doctor, they practically live…
