Born in Ghana and died in Jamaica, she was also known as queen Nanny or even granny Nanny, was known both by the maroons and by the British as well for being a great leader and she was extremely well known for her fighting skills and also for her strategic skills. She was exceptionally known for her guerrilla warfare techniques which were used in the first war between the maroons and the British. Her strategic skills in the war and also in setting up traps to keep the British away and stop them from capturing British left the British surprised and confused every time. She was also seen as a way of inspiration for her people who would always look to her for encouragement and guidance. It is said that Nanny of the maroons died in action.
