What Happened on the Day I Was Born?
1. Allie means “warrior” and Morris means “Moorish” or “dark and swarthy”.
2. Events that happened on September 26th:
a. 1969 - Abbey Road, the last recorded album by The Beatles, was released
b. 1981 – Baseball: Nolan Ryan sets a Major League record by throwing his fifth no-hitter.
c. 1997 – An earthquake strikes the Italian regions of Umbria and the Marche, causing part of the Basilica of St. Francis at Assisi to collapse.
C2. Before the earthquake on September 26, 1997, it was preceded by a foreshock almost as strong as the main earthquake. The main earthquake happened at 11:40 am CEST and rated 6.1 on the Richter scale. A long sequence of earthquakes, six with magnitudes between 5 and 6, struck Central Italy starting on this day. These earthquakes caused severe damages and loss of human lives. It damaged 6 of their major art related buildings.
d. 1997 – A Garuda Indonesia Airbus A300 crashes near Medan, Indonesia, airport killing 234 people.
e. 2000 – The MS Express Samina sinks off Paros in the Agean sea killing 80 passengers.

C2. Serena Williams is a famous tennis player. She began playing tennis when she was five years old. She was home schooled by her father, who was also her coach. In 2001, her and her sister became the first team to win four Grand Slam women’s doubles title. She won her first world title in 2002. She became the oldest number-one champion in 2013 with her sixth championship victory. Throughout the years 2004 to 2007, she had many injuries and depression. She is currently ranked number one is women’s singles tennis. The Women’s Tennis Association had ranked her World No. 1 in singles on six separate occasions. She has won more Major titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles than any other active player, male or female.

    March 2nd of 2011 in Charlotte NC I just receive 2 phone calls. The first one was from my lawyer in Morganton notifying me that several indictments had come through. The other was from Detective South of the Burke County Sheriff’s Office, telling me that I had no choice but to turn myself in. I remember him saying “If you run I will find you”.
