They never made it to the top and did not become as famous as they hoped to become. They did have something to cheer about two of them were sons of famous well-known actors. Dino, Desi, and Billy were Dean “Dino” Martin whose father was actor and singer Dean Martin, Desi Arnaz, Jr. who had a double lucky charm his mom and dad were Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and their friend Billy Hinshe.
They formed a singing group which performed between 1964 and 1969. Both Desi and Billy later went on to separate careers. Tragedy struck Dino when he became an officer in the California Air National Guard in 1981. Flying a National Guard F-4 Phantom jet fighter in 1987 he crashed in the San Bernardino Mountains during a snowstorm and died along with another Captain Ramon Ortiz. Their very first audition was for Frank Sinatra who at that time owned Reprise Records. For a good deal of their music the boys used top session players, songwriters, and producers. Among their best known songs are “I’m a Fool” and “Not the Lovin’ Kind”. In 1965 they toured as an opening act for the Beach Boys and also opened for other famous groups such as the Lovin’ Spoonful.
Dino, Desi, and Billy released an album in 1965 and three albums in 1966. They basically sang songs which others had made popular. They made an appearance in a Dean Martin movie “Murderer’s Row” and sang “If You’re Thinkin’ What I’m Thinkin’”. They continued to release singles from 1966 to 1970.
