What Is TRIZ Is A Problem Solving Method?
TRIZ is a problem solving method which was discovered in the 1940’s by Genrich Altshuller together with his workmates. It is a tool that emphasizes utilization of the wisdom of those who have dealt with similar problems only with different contexts but similar principles (Illerbane & Phaal, 2011). With a structured approach to problem solving, TRIZ focuses on problem definition and resolution followed by solution evaluation (Tiuc & Draghici, 2016). One of the most important aspect of TRIZ is the ideality elimination of contradictions, technical contradictions being the ones that prevent the system from reaching its set objectives whilst the physical contradictions particularly occur when a system has some requirements which are incompatible …show more content…
The concept itself have lots of limitations, as already discussed, this method of problem solving led us to have an ideal final result, whilst Ideality has limitations such as its calculations which is complicated and impossible, the degree of ideality tends to go up as useful functions increase and go down as the harmful factors decrease (Slater, 2002), basically becoming 100% as the system only possess positive functions and no negative functions, and generally negatives and positives are measured from a human being point of view and not considering the view of animals, researches show that there is no way to calculate benefits and harms for all the species on the planet as it cannot be categorized clearly (Ruchti & Livotov, 1999). This concept is also subjective as ideality may differ from person to the next. Another limitation of ideality is that it may vary from different standpoints, what is ideal in one culture may be a taboo in another culture, as we reached our ideal solution, we noticed that it may be considered viable in Botswana while other countries may argue differently.
