Trees Our Friends
A true friend is one who stands by us during good times as well as bad times.Based on this criterion we may regard trees as our best friends, because they have stood by us for centuries, providing us with food and fuel, and meeting many of our other needs.

Trees serve us in a variety of ways. They provide us with medicinal herbs, fruits, nuts, rubber, oil and many other useful articles. They keep our environment clean and fresh. They use up the carbon dioxide during photosynthesis and give out oxygen. They give us shade throughout the year, and attract rain clouds. The roots of trees also prevent soil erosion.
Forests are very important in preserving the balance of the eco-system. They provide sanctuary to wild animals.Unfortunately, man has been indiscriminately cutting down forests. This has resulted in a considerable decrease in rainfall in some places, and has caused floods in others. The world temperatures are rising because of the decrease of the forest cover. It is said that in olden days,Rajasthan was not a desert as it is today. It has become a desert because of the thoughtless cutting down of trees.
Only in recent years has man begun to realize the great importance of trees.Trees are the lungs of the world, and without them, all species of life on the earth are bound to perish.
The only way we can save these faithful friends is by creating an awareness of the importance of trees amongst people.Tree planting, afforestation, and campaigns such as the 'Chipko' movement are some ways by which this goal can be achieved.Children should be taught the importance of trees right from a very young age.Forest land should be protected, and encroachers should be severely punished. For every tree that we cut, we should grow at least two more trees.
Every new residential complex or industry that comes up should be compelled to grow trees on its premises. The cutting of trees, whether it be for road-widening or for festivals like Holi should not be allowed at all.Children should be made

Forests are what we call an exhaustible resource, one which can be used up if it is not used carefully. Over the last few decades, deforestation has threatened the rainforests with total extinction. To understand why deforestation is such an important issue, you first have to understand why trees matter. Trees improve in many ways the life of all species, including the human race. They help to maintain the Earth’s benevolent atmosphere, provide shelter for much biodiversity, but also have a high commercial value. As a consequence there is much critical debate around the causes and solutions for deforestation.…

“In less than one hundred years over half of the forest has now been cut and burned, leaving whole areas of the earth bare and unprotected, rendering entire regions lifeless. Over fifty million acres of tropical rain forest are destroyed every year, enough trees to fill all of England and Scotland combined,” stated Cedar.int. Forests have many beneficial qualities that are essential to human life, and each and every day humans are participating in deforestation. Some of the important contributions of forests are the production of oxygen, reduction of global warming, and providing wildlife habitats. Those contributions are only a fraction of why we need to conserve the forests of the world.…

To understand why deforestation is such a pressing and urgent issue, forests must first be given credit for what they bring to global ecosystems and the quality of life that all species maintain. The forests have global implications not just on life but on the quality of it. Trees improve the quality of the air that species breath by trapping carbon and other particles produced by pollution. Because of the deforestation of the rainforest, nearly half of the world 's species of plants, animals and microorganisms will be destroyed or severely threatened over the next quarter century…

Although humans have been practicing deforestation since ages, it was in the mid-1800s that forests began to be destroyed at an unprecedented rate. As a matter of fact, throughout the earlier part of the medieval age, Europeans used to live amongst vast areas of forested land. But later, they began deforestation at such a high rate that they started to run out of wood for cooking and heating. Also, due to the depletion of their natural habitat, wild game too began disappearing, which the Europeans largely depended upon for their nutritional requirements. Today, parallels can clearly be observed in the deforestation that is occurring in most developing countries.…

Trees play a significant part in our community and to our local wildlife as they improve and provide a number of important environmental benefits. They provide better air quality for us by filtering the airborne pollutants and by removing the atmospheric carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and places with cleaner air (places with more trees) extend people’s life force by months or even years. This impacts the organisms by contributing to the carbon cycle, during its process of photosynthesis- for example, an organism can have a better life living in cleaner air.…
