When Mariam died, she died knowing that the world is not such a bad place. Here, Khaled Hosseini shows how Mariam had a happy ending for herself and learned/experienced the word a way she never thought she could, “She was leaving the world as a woman who had loved and been loved”. This passage shows importance because it showed Mariams happy ending. Mariam had a hard life and had to overcome obstacles that most people did not. It also wraps up Mariams development as a character and a person. Khaled Hosseini wants the readers to know, what does not kill one, makes one stronger.
