Fantasy Football has found a way to work itself into the everyday life of most individuals. Whether it is just for fun with a group of friends, or higher stakes throwing fifty dollars into a pool in hopes that your team does better than the nine other teams run by your friends in your league, fantasy football has been involved with many football fans as well as non-football fans. There is even a popular show on cable that is based on fantasy football called “The League”.The industry changed when companies like DraftKings and FanDuel entered the market of fantasy football. With the industry growing at such a fast rate and bringing in such a revenue, they were likely to see some interest from officials, “members of Congress have called for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the sites and we’re likely to see hearings in the House early next year looking into the fairness and legality of sites like DraftKings and FanDuel. (Montgomery)”. To the blind eye there seems to be nothing wrong with what these companies are doing from a legal standpoint. However, the companies just recently banned its workers from participating in the one week leagues. This has recently brought up the discussions of possible insider trading going on to give some people an advantage on the one week games. One thing that FanDuel and DraftKings has done well is selling their product of a one-week fantasy football league. They have hung their hat on “no season long commitments”. This immediately appeals to people that are in a season long league and immediately are noncompetitive. They are able to continue the thrill of fantasy football and cheering for certain players during a football game that they have no preference on the final score. This is a competitive advantage that these companies have over traditional fantasy
