When Percy awoke the following morning, he was met by the beautiful grey-eyes of Annabeth Chase, and finds out he is in a place called Camp Half Blood, where demigods of all sorts gather in one, protected location. This is where Percy is given his quest to clear his name when he is accused of stealing Zeus's Master Bolt, and how Percy meets his father Poseidon, who is one of Zues's two brothers; the other being Hades. Percy is later accused of stealing the Helm of Darkness, which belongs to Hades, but Percy figures out that the thief of not just the Helm, but the Master Bolt as well is none other than Luke, who is the son of the god Hermes; the god of message carrying and thievery. Percy successfully proves himself innocent at the end of the novel, showing that he has come a long way from just being some troubled kid; Percy started out as a troublemaker who always had the courage to defend Grover, who was often bullied, but as Percy goes on, he becomes more and more

I chose Percy Jackson, due to the fact that he is like Odysseus. He’s like Odysseus, because he’s not morally perfect, is considered a hero because he saves olympus and this is what Greeks considered heros. Some of Percy’s most pivotal moments in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” are; his mom is stolen by the minotaur, he meets Annabeth, they go to the lotus hotel in Las Vegas, they go to the underworld, and they meet the gods. When his mom is stolen by a minotaur is a crucial moments, because in the movie, while he’s on his journey to rescue his mother, he finds out that he's been blamed for being the Lightning Thief.…

“No. He was not. I’ve been too slow to see the signs. I must hunt this monster” (Riordan 39). Apollo then shows up and it becomes clear that he and Artemis have a uneasy relationship. Apollo offers to take Percy and the others to the Camp, including the hunters. Thalia then warns Percy that the hunters don’t have the best history at the Camp, Percy then notices that Bianca seems to be acting poorly towards Nico, and she begins to think it was a selfish act to leave her brother behind. Percy goes to talk to Chiron and the camp director, Mr. D. He starts off by telling them everything that happened, When he tells them about the hunters, Chiron then instructs him to tell the other campers that they will have an honorary game of capture the flag since this is a tradition they have when the hunters are at. Percy figures that the reason why she had such a tough time driving Apollo’s vehicle is because her mother died in a car accident. “That’s why you had trouble with the sun van. She gave me a wary look. “what do you mean?” “The way you stiffened up. You must’ve been thinking about your mom” (Riordan…

Rick began to enjoy writing from an early age. He made many unsuccessful attempts of publishing his short stories in teenage years. At school, Rick was appointed the editor of the high school newspaper. It was not until graduation from college and teaching in San Francisco that Riordan took writing seriously.Riordan’s son, Haley who was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia held a keen interest in a subject his father taught, Greek mythology. Then in the second grade, Haley would often request upon Rick to tell him stories inspired by Greek mythologies. In order to fulfill his son’s request, Riordan quickly invented the character of Percy Jackson, a twelve year boy who suddenly discovers he is the son of a Greek God. Riordan began a creatively crafted imaginative tale of Percy’s expedition to bring back Zeus’s lightning bolt in present day America. After Rick finished telling the story in three nights, Haley requested him to write down the story as a book. Not wanting to disappoint his son, Riordan took out time to write down the story. To show his respect and care for dyslexic children, Riordan attributed some characteristics of this disease to Percy. Thus, Riordan’s world famous Percy Jackson series came into being.…

For this film review, I watched the film Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. It tells the story of Percy, son of Poseidon, and his quest to discover both who he is and who stole the mighty lightning bolt of Zeus. The film is aimed at families, and generally shows an accurate representation of the Greek myths. There are a few key differences though, which are mostly used to present the Greek Gods in a better, more likable tone for the movie.…

Percy’s meeting with Aunt Em [Medusa] made him think about staying with her and gave him a doubt with his mission and this represents the Woman as Temptress. As Aunt Em said, “Do not be a pawn of the Olympians, my dear. You would be better off as a statue. Less pain,. Less pain.” This lines made him think about being the Gods way of hurting one another. The temptation in this part of the story was the urge to stay with Medusa because of her persuading, lull-like voice that tells him to abandon his mission and just be her statue. With the help of Grover and Annabeth, they managed to behead Medusa. Percy proved that even if he know that he is being used by the Gods, it is important for him to rescue his mother from Hades.…

Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old with ADHD and dyslexia. Percy goes to a middle school called Yancy Academy, which is a school for troubled kids. During a field trip, Percy is attacked by Alecto, a mythological creature known as a Fury, who was disguised as his pre-algebra teacher Mrs. Dodds. Percy kills Mrs. Dodds with a pen sword that his Latin teacher threw to him. He is unaware that it is a powerful important sword. After Mrs. Dodds is gone, everybody acts like she was never there and Mrs. Dodds was replaced. Percy Jackson does not know this at this point, but this is because of the Mist (a magical aura that can manipulate thoughts and memory to keep humans from knowing the truth). Now only Grover, Mr. Brunner, and Percy ever knew she existed. After the field trip, Percy is expelled like on any field trip and on the last day and sees three old women cutting yarn, and gets freaked out. He rushes home and abandons his friend to go on a vacation with his mom to Montauk, but terrible weather strikes. Once Percy tells his mom what happened, his mom gets horrified that he didn't tell her. A satyr named Grover Underwood, and his mother Sally Jackson, then bring him to Camp Half-Blood, a camp for demigods: children with an Olympian Greek god for one parent. While avoiding the Minotaur's attacks, his mother is killed (or at least that's what Percy thinks). Percy then finds a strange strength inside of him and kills the Minotaur. He carries Grover down to Camp Half-Blood and faints on the front porch. Once he revives, he realizes he is in Camp Half-Blood. The camp is located off Long Island. There, he meets Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena. They become good friends by the end of the novel. Not long after his arrival, Poseidon, the sea god, claims Percy as his son during a game of demigod-style capture-the-flag, when he is…

I believe how Celie sees herself relates to how Alice has seen herself in her personal life. In the book, Celie falls in love with Shug who is seen as a beautiful, strong independent black woman.…
