1. After a late night Thanksgiving school play, Leigh Anne notices Michael walking on the road, shivering in the cold; when she learns he intends to spend the night huddled outside the school gym, she offers him a place to sleep at her house. The next morning, when she sees Michael leaving, she asks him to spend the holiday with her family. Slowly, Michael becomes a member of the Tuohy family, even as Leigh Anne's rich friends wonder what she is doing. One even suggests that her teenage daughter Collins is not safe around him, much to Leigh Anne's disgust. Leigh Anne Tuohy first action was taking Michael off the streets, she took such an interest because she …show more content…
Leigh Anne was offended by the insulation that her high class friends made was because this was what she has strived for and is it not that your friends are the ones that are supposed to support you? Right when Leigh Anne’s friends heard this they became restricted in such a way it is somewhat disturbing on how stuck up one can is when they think they have everything. Michael Oher completed the family, the Tuohy family was home more, they actually ate thanksgiving together and each member played a role in helping Michael succeed in his life. This plays a role in society because like all brothers, they share this relationship that is completely then a father and sons, sister and brother or mother and son, this is the bond between two brothers, where one is leaving and one is staying. S.J. will not allow that though, he creates a deal with the coaches to help “bribe” Michael to come to their university by giving S.J. sweet deal. S.J. and the coaches creates a relationship because each coach knows that they have to have something for S.J. to help Michael decide because the society issue of splitting up brothers because one is going away is not huge but hits close to home for Michael and even myself. Leaving my brother would be the hardest thing to do and without any reason my brother could not be my side as I move one I would not go because like mike I am a family

    The main character in the story is Dina. She is an African American college student who is attending a prestigious university. Her character contributes to the theme in the sense that she has “denied” her heritage and upbringing by breaking the mold of what might have expected of her to accomplish as a young adult. While it is an inaccurate and ignorant stereotype to assume one is “selling out” or acting outside of their race for choosing to become educated and show an interest in learning, it is a stereotype that definitely exists. One of the places in the story that this is apparent is in her recollection of the trip to the grocery store. She recounts how unacceptable it was in her neighborhood to be seen with a book that one may be reading for simple pleasure as opposed obligation for school. She grew up in a poverty stricken neighborhood where going to a place like Yale was not something that happened to most of the youth brought up there. The theme of denial continues with her resistance to submit to her lesbianism. It’s very apparent that she has a deep seeded resentment of men that started with her father who treated her mother very poorly, and in her own words says, “My mother had died slowly. At the hospital, they'd said it was kidney failure, but I knew that, in the end, it was my father.
