Goals to Seek

The project I chose to do was two different collages with different meanings and images that represent what my goal was. To start the overall goal of the project was to effectively communicate that the United States needs to change the focus of our education system. The way the education system is heading is a place that puts more emphasis on learning Math and Science than English. This project clearly shows images that have a positive view on math and science but a negative view of English. The reason being is because I wanted to show what most people in the United States think about English. The use of black and white pictures was to show that the matter at hand is serious and that it is black and white, meaning that there is two sides you can choose. This effectively forces the audience to automatically start thinking about which side they will choose. Making this exactly what I wanted to achieve, to make people think deeply about education. Pictures having people who hate reading represent the stress that comes along with the subject of English. Other pictures give a real feel to the audience because the pictures show actual facts, people, or things that represent emotions and connotations in the realm of education. No matter how far fetched the pictures were I was able to connect them to the goal of getting English to be a more sought after subject. My audience for this project was very broad. I chose to target the entire United States. This seemed necessary because children aren’t able to choose things for themselves their whole lives but when they get older propaganda they have seen will still have an affect on them. So, if parents were to see the posters the hope would be that they would be able to help the process of their child being more involved with English. Other audience members would include everyone from the President down. The broad audience to me

I gain clarity in my works by visualizing the problems and objectives through a series of moving images or short films as a result of my imagination. Visualizing my objectives allows me to take a consumer's perspective and gain insight on how my work may be interpreted. The solutions I gain from my imagination will determine what medium I use to create the final product. Whether the medium used is a short motion graphic, photography, hand-drawn illustration, or the physical product itself, every aspect of a project is critically examined to enhance the experience. Thorough research is also reflected in how the graphic design such as colour, typography, and composition weave back to support the story being…

The class activity focused on understanding pathos, logos, and ethos in visual components. By recognizing the power these appeals have over the audience from simple thigs like font type and placement of images was extremely helpful for creating my visual component of the project. The activity made me realize that I had to change the way I presented my information rhetorically. I made the information simple for the audience to understand and took into account what colors and drawings would be the most engaging. That specific class activity allowed me to change my approach to have the most affective…

After Graduate School, I hope to have my PhD in psychology or my doctorate in psychiatry. I would like to start out working in jails, talking to criminals and analyzing their brains versus the brain of an average adult to study how the brain reacts with criminal activity and why they do and feel what they do. I have heard that a person can not do that type of work for very long because it is emotionally tasking so after that, I would like to open my own counseling practice up. I would do either marriage and family therapy or focus on teenage depression. Eventually, I would like to retire into school psychology or become a psychology teacher. Also, if I ever have enough money, I will buy a house devoted to taking in stray animals…

My goals for this class is that I want to understand more about how people feel about ethics and if they want to change them. If they want to change them, then why do they want to change them, and what would they change them to. My only fears are that maybe the instructor does not put enough information out about the assignments on what should be done. That even after I contact the instructor and ask questions that I believe will help clarify the assignment, I still will not understand the concept behind the assignment and how I should go about writing or completing it to get the full credit on the assignment.…

I have always been fascinated with human behavior. Somehow I instinctively knew that our behaviors are affected by many environmental factors. Thus, as a child, I found myself always attempting to psychoanalyze the behaviors of my friends, family, and television characters. In 2005, I enrolled in LeMoyne Owen College. Since LeMoyne does not offer a major in psychology, I elected sociology as my major. Although I loved studying the theories associated with Sociology; I wanted to pursue my studies in Psychology. As a result, I transferred to the University of Memphis in 2007. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and look forward to earning a Master Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I feel strongly that this is the path that God has put in place for me to take. I look forward to advancing my knowledge in psychology concepts such as brain function, cognition, attention, personality, behavior and many other methods, and researches tools that will better enable me to understand individuals and groups and assist them with their problems in order to help them become productive members of society. I worked for the Regional Intervention Program (RIP) as a classroom coordinator. The Regional Intervention Program has been serving families with young children since 1969. RIP is an internationally recognized parent implemented program in which parents learn to work directly with their own children. Experienced RIP parents provide training and support to newly enrolled families. The program is available to families in which there are concerns regarding a young child's behavior, and is coordinated by a professional resource staff person. This position provided me with an extraordinary view of maladies of childhood behaviors. Regional Intervention Program used the methods of Applied Behavioral Analysis; through this program I have witnessed countless behavioral problems change. Being able to work with children who have behavioral problems and seeing a…

This great country on the federal, state, and local level needs to invest more money in educating its citizens. In the past the United States boasted a higher percentage of technically trained, well educated, top of their field professionals to fulfill the needs of not only this great country, but those of the rest of the world too. However those days seem to be over. Today most highly technical and intellectual jobs such as engineering, chemistry, physics, and research doctors are held by individuals who were educated elsewhere. Students in the United States test among the lowest in the world in the basic skills of math, science, and English. It is evident that educating the Americans of the future generation has somehow gotten way too low on this country’s priority list. We have done a poor job of properly educating our citizens in recent years to be able to compete in the world market of tomorrow. The United States should pass legislature mandating higher pay for K-12 teachers, higher test scoring standards for schools, teachers, and students, smaller classrooms, and colleges should start actively recruiting prospective students in public schools at the elementary age, which is much earlier than they do today.…

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- life is stronger than death.” If you ask me to describe myself I would say that I am pleasant, diverse, and active man. I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am an engineering graduate with a flair for management. I also have a passion for traveling and exploring different cultures of the world. All these elements have helped me develop a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. As a freshman at the undergraduate level, I chose my major in Electrical & Electronics Engineering to ensure a sound technological base. It was in my third year of graduation in Engineering that I was able to touch upon subject like Industrial and Organizational Management, which stimulated my interest towards management. Professional experience has helped me fortify my conclusion that Management science is a major part of the industry and it plays a polar role. After completing my Engineering from Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi; which is amongst the best institutes of technical education in India, I joined in as a Project Engineer in Wipro Technologies Ltd. To get a feel of corporate management and to know what it takes to become a successful manager before opting for a career in the field. My desire to know more of the big world of managers saw me carefully observing what makes the decisions of the managers, who manage the companies, more successful & pragmatic. I realized that experience did play a major role in their success, but what was more important was that they came from recognized schools of business. Their decisions were based on simulated conditions in classroom discussions and on the basis of their peer’s experiences that were also shared…

I was lucky enough to have computers in my household during my childhood days. Being born in a middle-class family (in a third-world country), having a computer at home was incredible! Only a very few people could afford, or more importantly use computers in my country. I remember those big black-and-white monitors and 5 inch floppy disks, when the only operating system that was popular was MS-DOS. My uncle was studying Computer Science in the early 90s, the time I had been born. He opened up a small IT institution in the ground floor of our building, and set his career as a teacher. So naturally, I picked up a lot about computers from my uncle every since I was a kid. By the time I was 11, I could help grown-up students in my uncle’s institution with their computer lessons. I was loved and praised to have such talents at such an early age. By the time I was in mid-school and onwards, my friends were always fighting over each other to make me their computer lab partner. Because I always scored the highest marks in tests and projects, and I had a lot of fun in acing them.…
