The effect of spanking children in physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development in children Spanking is a form of discipline that involves hitting a child using stick, punching, slapping, as well as any form of abuse to a child in order get hurt (Kovac, 2014). The form of spanking to children can affect children in different ways such as physical development, cognitive development and psychosocial development. Cognitive development in early childhood refers to the ability of a how a child can form some ideas when they are growing up, and how they advance their skill in a new environment. Jean Piaget came up with an idea of reflex behavior, whereby a child will not think about what they are going to do, but they follow their own ideas that just pop up from their own mind.
