Sonny And The Narrator Analysis
In baldwins story , Sonny and the narrator become very close . Throughout the story , both the narrator and Sonny over come many obstacles . These events that take place in the story, influence the character development of Sonny and the narrator . If it weren't for these events that take place , then Sonny and the narrator wouldn't have developed the way that they do by the end of this story . When Sonny is faced with the hardship of having to go to prison , this is hard for him but having the narrator their for him makes it easier . Sonny at first doesn't talk to the narrator while in prison but towards the end of him being in prison , he and the narrator start writing letters to each other . The two actually end up getting in a couple of fights while they are separated . Towards the end of the story , Sonny and the narrator make up and Sonny ends up moving in with the narrator . Sonny is a musician and invites the narrator to come watch him play jazz one night . The narrator takes him up on his offer and comes to see Sonny perform . While at the show , the narrator figures out what Sonny is really made of and how he is as a person as well as a musician . This is the final stage of development that we can see both the narrator and Sonny develop into something better than before .
This story shows how when things get bad in life , it's better to have someone their for you then trying to overcome everything by yourself .
