Case Study Elements
1. The primary case participants are owner Joel St. Marseille and his mother full

time manager Connie St. Marseille.

2. The organization is Skadurz Pro which is a store that sells skateboard and snowboard equipment as well as clothing, shoes and accessories.
3. The problems facing this organization are the retirement of Connie, the stores full time manager, as well as the stores two current locations. There is competition moving in across the street from the New Sudbury location, and the building that houses the South End location is up for sale. If St. Marseille decides to keep both locations, he does not think that he can manage both stores alone and would therefore need to hire a trustworthy manager since his full time manager is retiring. If St. Marseille decides to close one of the stores, which one should he close? The New Sudbury location where West 49, there competition is moving in across the street or the South End location where the building is up for sale and there is no indication that the new owner will keep St. Marseille as a tenant.
4. The most critical problem is the incoming competition of West 49 and whether or not to keep that store location open. This is the most significant problem because would the competition create a loss of sales for Skadurz Pro?
5. What caused these problems was the incoming competition of West 49 a large retail chain specializing in skateboarding and snowboarding equipment as well as clothing.
6. This organization provides skateboard and snowboard equipment as well as clothing shoes and accessories.
7. Skadurz Pro has created a unique product as they sell custom skateboards as well as unique skateboarding and snowboarding VHS and DVD movies that are often not available north of Toronto.     Creating a position between the CEO and location managers would be somewhat a good idea. I see that as a bad idea for them right now because how they are running their business it’s a day to day decision. If they create that position that’s another salary they have to afford and it doesn’t seem like they are ready for it yet.     The Friendly Market is a large supermarket located in a city in the Southwest. "Friendly's," as it is popularly known, has more sales per square foot than any of its competitors because it lives up to its name. The personnel go out of their way to be friendly and helpful.     In business we tend to face all kinds of situations and circumstance that we have to carefully evaluate using past information to predict the future. Although no prediction can be totally accurate it can help us to draw a conclusion on where we would be in the future if we focus on the right information. Elizabeth and “Biddy’s Bakery” faced this challenge in meeting her capacity needs. As she had stated in the case business “Initially sales were slow, and there were periods when the business operated at a loss.” (Reid, Sanders 2010). Biddy Bakery continued operations and through the next few years they began to grow just as many companies do as they get more and more established. Typically, bakeries aren’t the fastest growing business in the market nor are it the most popular type of business. If we were to look at this more analytically we would see that this is not a fast growing business and capacity is probably not a challenge, more or less and maneuver that needs to be taken to accommodate for the slow but steady growth. Another statement that supports this is by Elizabeth explaining that sales continued to grow slowly but steadily. In 1994 when she first established the business she used a first floor storage area that was expanded to accommodate the growing needs of her business. By mid 2000 Biddy’s Bakery quickly outgrew its current capacity therefore she decided to purchase the adjacent building and move into something with larger capacity and henceforth we have the problem. In particular we may have look at the lack of space as growth rather than the increase of production as growth. If we look at the timeline of growth and how long it took her to grow into her facility we would see since she started the business in 1984 to 2000 had been 16 years of slow, but steady growth.
