Sexual Orientation
Sexual Orientation Is focused on nature of sexual preference somebody's sexual desire, toward people of the opposite sex, people of the same sex, or people of both sex Sexual orientation is also understood to be more than just Intimacy, but includes emotional preference and connection with another person. When a person is physically and emotionally attracted to others of the same sex, they are considered to be lesbian if it’s a female and gay if it’s a male. If one is attracted to both sexes they are considered to be Bi-Sexual. It has been stated by the American Psychological Association:” Lesbian, gay, and bisexual people in the United States encounter extensive prejudice, discrimination, and violence because of their sexual orientation. Intense prejudice against lesbians, gay men, and bisexual people was widespread throughout much of the 20th century. Public opinion studies over the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s routinely showed that, among large segments of the public, lesbian, gay, and bisexual people were the target of strongly held negative attitude and discrimination”
It is hard stomach the amount of discrimination our society still has deal with. Just as Racism use to be seen as correct and proper in the eyes of many people, and just because some ignorant no brainers really thought that the color of your skin determined your worth and believed that it was correct to mistreat people of color, everyone else believed as well or else they would be an outcast and yet they were completely wrong!. Same goes for Sexual orientation we sit back and judge people for being Gay, lesbian, Bi-sexual or transsexual just because we think it is wrong or because that’s the way the world thinks and we are afraid to think otherwise. Everyone has a personal opinion to everything; many tend to make judgements of people over every little thing. It Leaves one to wonder should one’s sexual identity be used against them.
