Real Life versus Perfect Life Have you ever thought about how your real life would compare to your perfect life? Seven years ago I actually thought about this. When I was 21 years old I had my first child, a son Jayson Alexander Raney. I was working as a cashier at Food Lion, and my boyfriend was working at Advance Auto Parts. Our home was a two bedroom apartment that we shared with his mother. I knew that we weren’t financially prepared to provide for our son. I enrolled at Robeson Community College in 1998, but dropped out after I completed one semester. If I would have stayed in school, I would have been working as a Registered Nurse for two years before Jayson was born. In my perfect world, my life would be quite different in the areas of work, housing, and money. To begin with, I am a housewife, mother, and a student in real life. As a housewife, I cook, clean, and do laundry. As a mother, I take care of our two wonderful children. As a student, I come to class, study for tests, and prepare for the next day. To me all of this is work although I don’t receive a paycheck. However, my perfect life would be opposite. I would be a working mother with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and an Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Science. My job would be a Flight Nurse/Paramedic working with Duke University Life Flight. Most of all, I would have hired help to cook, clean, and do laundry. Now, let’s talk about housing. I live in a one story brick house. It has seven average sized rooms that are cluttered, and two full size baths. All the walls in my house are white. The bathrooms do have some color. One bathroom has tan tiles and the other has blue tiles. We have a one car garage with a storage room, and we have another storage building in the backyard that looks like a miniature house. On the other hand, my perfect house would be a two story brick house. White walls would not be in my perfect house. The walls would be different colors, but they would match. The
