Pina Collada Song
Pina Collada Song By: Rupert Holmes

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read: If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain A
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape. B
I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me, and escape." B
I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean. A
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine. A
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad. B
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half bad. B
"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape."
So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you."
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"..
"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape."
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I'm the love that you've looked for, come with me, and escape."

Study Question 5. In the novel -- Bless Me, Ultima -- written by Rudolfo Anaya, the events are set during and after World War II. Rather than being significant to the story, this particular moment in history takes more significance in the molding of the characters which eventually drives the story. In the text it says, “The men of the town had murdered Lupito. But he had murdered the sheriff. They said the war had made him crazy” (24). As read in the quote, World War II directly affected those immediately involved in the war, for instance, Lupito. However, it also indirectly affected young Antonio, due to the impact left on the people Antonio was exposed to. Being exposed to these people, Antonio witnessed events that made him develop his own…

For my musical choice I picked Rodeo: Hoe Down. I think the mood in this music is happy there is a lot of upbeat rhythms and tones. The speed is very fast and quick it never stops its instruments and makes me want to dance. The dynamics are loud and will wake you up when you are taking a little cat nap. This piece had no voices but a lot of instruments. There is a piano on wooden blocks, trumpet, xylophone, and the violan. I think this piece is trying to convey happiness, laughter, and dance. It makes me want to get up and dance all…

The deep thoughts that dwell within one’s psyche are often the expectations, fears and aspirations that cause too much agitation to fully express. In Rudolfo Anaya’s, Bless Me, Ultima, the protagonist, Antonio Luna-Maréz, endures frequent dreams and nightmares that convey what he truly believes. Antonio’s eclectic subconscious thoughts are very often the catalyst for his future reactions and commonly predicts events sure to come. His dreams demonstrate who he truly is, rather than the hollow version of his self that was displayed to his family and friends; apart from his makeshift mentor, Ultima. In slumber, Antonio was truly awake.…

On Tuesday, November 2, 2004 I attended the San Antonio Museum of Art. The painting that left the most lasting impression was Diego Rivera's "La Siesta." The painting, a "snapshot" of indigenous Mexican life, had the biggest reaction because of my Mexican background. I also chose this painting because Diego Rivera was a Mexican artist.…

The name of my piece of music I choose is “Don’t take the Girl”. The original writer is Larry Johnson but the song was redone by Tim McGraw in 1994. It’s recognized as a country song under both cases. The instruments used in this selection very sometimes Tim sung it acapella but, if it was sung the regular way the tools used were his wonderful voice of course, piano, chims, drums and the classic guitar.…

The second song of the night was I Did My Part by Irma Thomas. This song had a more old time blues feeling to it than the previous song. The song was medium in tempo and I really liked its melody and lyrics.…

Making a DifferenceGordon Parks grew up as an African-American in the United States during the early 1900s. He endured much hardship but, through art, used it as inspiration to help others. Parks was a self-taught photographer that used his camera to show the intolerance of the world (Bush 36). It wasnt until he had studied some photos that were taken during the Depression, when he realized the value of the words tied to a photograph (Parks, Weapons 228). He soon began writing photographic stories, to include his famous Life magazine article, Flavios Home. The article showed the world exactly how ugly poverty is. Parks wrote this story as an attempt to help fight poverty by exposing it.…
