They risk their lives for people they don’t even know. They go through a lot while serving our country, but they do not only serve; they protect our country.
In a way, veterans are like the “fathers” of our country. Our father would risk their lives to protect us, which is similar to a veteran going to war for their country. This is why we celebrate them on November 11, otherwise known as Veterans Day. A day we honor the veterans because some of us don’t realize all their importance to us. Some ways that we can honor them is saying the pledge, taking your hat off during the star spangle banner, and giving them respect; that is what they deserve. When you see a veteran or an active duty soldier, simply shake their hand and say “thank you”.
So, this why we have Veterans Day, why . If you’re having trouble figuring out how to do this, here is how you could show your thanks: Fly the Flag; encourage your neighbors, family, and friends to proudly fly “Old Glory” on their porch; or visit a VA Hospital. Just drop by your local VA hospital and play a game of cards or just be a caring listener. It will mean so much to them. Or you even could simply walk up to a veteran and say
